In breeding, things often don't go as planned, and unfortunately this time was no different. We found out a few weeks before Story came into season that our first choice stud was unavailable due to semen shipping issues. We pivoted to Tycho, and his owners were fantastic to work with, especially as Story came into season earlier than expected and they were traveling. Proven frozen semen was shipped and arrived safely! Yay!
Unfortunately, when thawed, we learned it hadn't survived nearly as well as expected. We still used it, but realistically, it's unlikely to result in a pregnancy, or it may only result in 1-2 puppies, which actually ends up being harder on the dam and the humans as the mom typically requires a c-section and it's easy for puppies to get too big, too quick, causing development issues we really have to stay on top of.
With the stud owners' permission, we made a mad dash of a drive that evening and did a second breeding with Gordie, the stud from Story's first litter, in hopes it would help with producing a full litter instead of just a puppy or two.
All puppies will be DNA tested and registered accordingly. A huge thank you to both stud dog owners who have been so understanding and supportive in this adventure!

Though we'd initially planned to breed Story only once, we were so happy with what a wonderful mom she was and with how her puppies have matured, that we decided the world needed more Story kids!
In 2019, I heard about a lovely litter being planned, incorporating some of my very favorite dogs. It wasn't the right time for us to add a puppy, but I've followed where some of those puppies and their close relatives ended up and have enjoyed watching the amazing things they've done.
We are so thrilled that Tycho's owners allowed us to bring Story to him, and we're expecting puppies who will be wonderful working companions ready to try it all!

From early puppyhood, Tycho has always wanted to work with me.
He is eager to train every day in whatever venue I choose—be it tracking, obedience, or field. Tycho has become remarkably skilled in each venue. He earned his TDX (Tracking Dog Excellent) at just 18 months, his UDX (Utility Dog Excellent) and OBHF (Obedience Hall of Fame) at 3 years, and has since finished his OTCH (Obedience Trial Champion). He has now passed 50 Master Hunter tests, earning him a place in the HTHF (Golden Retriever Hunt Test Hall of Fame). There are only two Golden Retrievers who hold both an OTCH and an HTHF, and Tycho is one of them. With his additional TDX title, he joins an elite group of just 13 Golden Retrievers to hold an OTCH, TDX, and MH.
His enthusiasm, style, and ability have brought high praise and compliments from tracking judges, obedience judges, and hunt test judges alike.
Tycho is very fast and literally ran both his TD and TDX tests. In field work, he runs very hard both on marks and blinds and is always eager to “go” for the next bird. His marking is excellent, and he is a true team player on blinds. He has his own style of returning with the bird by backing up into heel position—a move that often brings chuckles from judges and gallery.
Just as importantly, Tycho has a wonderful temperament and gets along great with dogs and people. While we watch TV, he joins us on the couch for petting and snuggle time. He travels well, does not bark at other dogs or people, and is not crate possessive—all vital qualities since we drive to field or obedience training several days a week in addition to traveling to weekend events.
At 23″ tall and weighing 60 lbs, Tycho has moderate bone and an easy-care coat. We have had some wonderful, talented Goldens, but Tycho has surpassed them all.

Gordie x Story

A repeat of our Art Litter from 2025. We've really enjoyed watching our girl, Sequel, grow up and she's turned into a lovely, sweet girl who is reminding us a lot of Caia - our rockstar girl from a very similar combination of these lines. Gordie has continued on with several impressive wins in the Veteran's ring and thought another rendezvous with Story was the perfect eleventh birthday gift! We're looking forward to more incredibly sweet goofballs who just want to make their owners happy from this combination.

Gordie is a good size boy, about 23 1/2" and 78-80 pounds. He is well balanced with nice front and rear angulation, has an outstanding front assembly and great rib spring, is clean coming and going, has lovely neck into shoulders, and good leg under him. Gordie's side gait is easy and fluid. His pigment is jet black at over 9 years old, and, while he started getting sugar on his face around 4 ½, he is as fit and ready for the show ring as he was many years ago. Gordie is an old style golden retriever, with correct coat of a medium gold with light furnishings. Nothing about Gordie is overdone; this is a dog that could be working outside all day and not need more than a bath to get ring ready. Many of Gordie's CH and GCH points have been breeder/owner handled and under GRCA breeder judges, and at specialties and supported entries. He finished his CH with three majors. At age 9, he took a large entry all-breed BOB in June 2024 for a 5 point GCH major over highly ranked specials.

Story was our pick girl from our Rune X Kenzie litter in 2022 and has matured into such a fun partner. She loves to snuggle and is probably the most polite and calm dog we have in the house, but as soon as you give any clue something FUN might happen, she's also ready to go - sometimes bouncing above your head just like her dad. And with an athletic, petite frame at just under 50 lbs, she plays those games FAST. Story has excelled in obedience and rally and kicked off her Rally Championship journey by winning High Combined. After taking a break for puppies last year, she's now back in the ring and finishing up the last few points for her championship while training for Open obedience. Story's parents are still actively competing as well and she has several siblings excelling in agility, dock diving, rally, obedience, and fieldwork.
Story also has the perfect temperament for therapy work and easily passed the mock exam at the end of one of her classes (I've chosen not to pursue certification due to my own schedule for now). In short, she is everything I was hoping for from the combination of her parents, and I've seen that incredible temperament continue in the puppies from her last litter who are just settling into their careers as obedience partners, family companions, and service dogs.
