​Welcome to Maywood Retrievers

Located in the Appalachian mountains of Southwest Virginia, we focus on raising the classic golden retriever - a dog with a stable temperament, good work ethic and instincts, who can thrive equally as a hunting or competition partner and a family companion. Health and longevity are our highest priorities and every one of our personal dogs, whether a breeding prospect or not, has full health testing performed. We actively show our goldens in agility, obedience, rally, hunt tests, and a variety of other performance venues and are members of the Golden Retriever Club of America. In addition, we are active members of our local all breed kennel and training clubs, as well as a retired member of TDI (Therapy Dogs International). But above all else, our goldens are beloved companions who live in our house as part of the family. Explore our site and feel free to contact us with any questions! 

May 2026 Update! Three years ago, we had the opportunity to add a flat-coated retriever to our family. We've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the older than goldens, but new to us breed.
